New Jewelry Featuring My Flea Market Finds

Remember these? Well this is what I turned them into! I still have a TON of work to do before the craft sale this weekend so I'm a little worried... Especially since I don't want to sell this stuff and want to keep it for myself now. Is that bad to show up to a sale with nothing to sell?  Not that I need FOUR new necklaces, but it's so hard sometimes to get rid of one-of-a-kind-pieces...  Hmmm...

Has anyone heard the Carolina Liar cd?  I must say it is growing on me and has been great to listen to while working in the studio...

Super Cute Ruffle Top

So I'm already imagining all of the cute things I want to make once my fabric gets here.  Granted it won't be here until October, but a girl can dream right?  I came across this super cute ruffle top on Sew Mama Sew that was put together by Rae of Made by Rae (the picture on the left is Rae's original- how adorable is that?!). This little number is definitely at the top of the "to do" list for this Fall!

Tonight's Project, Leather Cuffs

Had a sweet little package on my doorstep today with some jewelry materials I've been waiting on.  I had these shapes laser cut into leather from my original illustrations, and then tonight I did a little bit of hand dyeing to give them a distressed/antique look.  I sewed strips of elastic to the back to make it easy to put on and also so they would fit a wider range of wrist sizes.  I will have them this weekend at the Craftstravaganzaa, and maybe some in my Etsy shop soon.  Up next, finishing my flea market jewelry and wooden bicycle necklaces.  It's going to be a busy week!

A Day at the Flea Market...

Had a great day.  Went to a Flea Market with my friend Angie (see the cool tin stuff she found?!).  I racked up and got all of that vintage jewelry above (going to make new jewelry out of it), 2 metal garden chairs, a crazy looking plant, and a wooden mantle all for $120!  Not bad for a days work...

Hopefully I will have pictures of my new jewelry creations soon.  I am getting ready for a big 2 day craft festival in Athens called the Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa.  More on that later this week...

Flower Bucket Colorways

Thanks for all of the great feedback so far on my new fabric collection!  Thought I would share the 3 different colorways with you today, and all of the prints that will be included in the line.  I would love to hear which colors or patterns are your favorite!  Hopefully there will be more collections after this, so it would be great to see what kinds of things people like the most to keep in mind for next time...

My New Collection for Windham Fabrics!

So I can finally announce my dream-come-true project I've been working on!  Introducing "Flower Bucket," my debut fabric collection for Windham Fabrics.  Woot woot!  I'm so freakin' excited!!!  It will be shown at the Spring Quilt Market in Pittsburgh next month, and the ship date is set for Oct. 1st 2009.  You can view the entire collection online here.

I have always loved fabric- the colors, the patterns, all of the different projects you can make with it...  For this collection I tried to design fun, bright, playful patterns that could intermix and  be used on a variety of projects from Home Dec, to kid's clothing, to funky quilts, and craft projects.  When I get more sample yardage this summer I will try to come up with some fun new "Get Your Craft On" tutorials that will incorporate these designs.  Hope you guys will enjoy my new line!  More to come soon...

Bicycle, Bicycle...

For all of you local peeps, the Athens Twilight bike races are this weekend. Brian and I always have a great time out there, even though we always end up at the Georgia Theatre spot where all of the wrecks happen!  Bikes flying by at 100 miles an hour taking that sharp turn and then WHAM!  Major collisions every year.  Not a pretty picture...

Speaking of bikes, I wish my new necklaces were going to be ready in time for the weekend (rough ideas above right).  The truck and vespa necklaces were good sellers for me in the past, so I'm trying to come up with something new and fun.  Hopefully I will have everything finished next week so be on the lookout for them in my Etsy shop!

Sonoma Blend Backsplash

A client just sent me pictures of her finished backsplash that I designed for her a few weeks ago.  I came up with a custom blend from Sonoma Tile Makers that incorporated a mixture of 1"x1" blue-gray glazed tile to match the cabinets, white glazed tile, and blue crackle tantrum glass.  We incorporated the white 3"x6" subway tile around the central focal panel and added a strip of the custom blend along the bottom.  I think it turned out great!

An Old Photograph of an Old Barn

Came across this photograph I took almost 10 years ago (whoa!) while in a Photography 101 class in college.  It is a picture of an old barn that was at the end of the road I grew up on.  I'm so glad I found this picture, because the barn has since been torn down.  It also reminds me that I want to devote more of my time to photography again...

Let's see, 10 years ago I probably had this playing in my car with the windows rolled down...
